A Leading Provider of
Easy Read Information
Who Are Change
At CHANGE, we are dedicated to empowering individuals with learning disabilities by ensuring they have access to high quality, accessible information.
Our mission is to break down barriers, promote inclusivity, and provide the resources needed for everyone to have equal access to the information that they need.
As a leading provider of Easy Read information, we transform written documents into accessible formats for a wide range of audiences. This includes people with learning disabilities, people who are neurodivergent, people for whom English is a second language and those who struggle with literacy.
Our dedicated designers collaborate with our Words to Pictures Team, consisting of individuals with learning disabilities, who are trained to quality check Easy Read content. Together, we co-produce information that is both accessible and impactful and has the added assurance that any document that we produce has been quality checked by people with learning disabilities.
What is Easy Read?
Easy Read is an accessible way of presenting information that uses simple language, explanations, and supporting images.
It is primarily designed for people with learning disabilities and those who are neurodivergent, it is also beneficial for individuals with low literacy levels or those who speak English as a second language.
In our Easy Read materials, we strive to ensure that every aspect, from illustrations to design, is as accessible and easy to understand as possible, while maintaining a clean and professional aesthetic.
Accessible Information
The Accessible Information Standard
The right to accessible information is outlined in the Accessible Information Standard, a law which aims to make sure people with a disability or sensory loss are given information they can understand, and the communication support they need. CHANGE was part of the advisory group who developed this standard.
All organisations that provide NHS care or adult social care are required to follow the standard, including NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts, and GP practices. It also represents important guidance to other sectors whose clients or customers need accessible information.
The Equality Act 2010
The Equality Act 2010 requires that public bodies and service providers make reasonable adjustments to ensure that people with disabilities have access to information and services. This includes providing information in accessible formats
Financial Conduct Authority
New rules, known as the Consumer Duty, set a higher standard of consumer protection in financial services.
The Duty means you should get:
the support you need, when you need it
communications you understand
products and services that meet your needs and offer fair value
