Co-Production in Action: Insights from the Words to Pictures Team Interviews
At CHANGE we are guided by the principle of ‘nothing about us without us’. We know that genuine understanding, enriched by the unique experience, history, knowledge, and perspective of experts by experience, is the key to effective, person-centred communication. This is why our Words to Pictures team, a group of people with lived experience of learning disabilities, plays a vital role in our quality assurance processes and our commitment to co-production.
The inspiration for this interview series came directly from the regular discussions of our Words to Pictures team, who wanted to better understand why organisations commission Easy Read and what it means to organisations to be inclusive and accessible. CHANGE proudly supported the team in this initiative, helping them develop interview questions and organise these conversations with clients.
These conversations enrich our team's understanding and powerfully demonstrate the tangible benefits our collaborative approach brings to clients. The interviews show how partnering with CHANGE, and engaging with our Words to Pictures team, leads to:
Deeper Client Insight: Understanding your specific accessibility needs and the 'why' behind them through direct, empathetic engagement.
Lived Experience Insight: Direct access to the perspectives of our Words to Pictures team, ensuring solutions are grounded in real-world understanding, not just assumptions.
More Effective Solutions: Co-creating resources that genuinely work for the intended audience.
