CHANGE worked alongside Leeds University on a project called Learning by Doing Together which developed the job crafting model. We explored the creation of new jobs for people with learning disabilities in learning disabilities services. The new jobs were ‘peer support worker’ jobs. In these jobs, people with learning disabilities worked in organisations as support workers. We wanted to make sure that the jobs helped to empower people with learning disabilities and to improve the services that people with learning disabilities use.
CHANGE plan to further develop the job crafting model so that more organisations can become authentiaclly learning disabled friendly and more people with learning disabilities can gain real employment.
