CHANGE is working in partnership with Leeds University and NHS England to create a set of user-led quality checking toolkits for people with learning disabilities to check the quality of care in mainstream health services.
The NHS quality checking tools developed in this project will address serious health inequalities faced by people with learning disabilities in the health service system.
The tools will be used to check these services:
1. Accident and Emergency
2. Acute hospitals
3. GP surgeries
5. Community health services
6. Mental health services
7. Learning disability services
This project builds on user-led quality checking that is already happening around England. Our researchers have been collaborating with people with learning disabilities who are quality checkers throughout the project. We are making sure that the checking tools we develop are looking at the things that matter to people with learning disabilities.
