In June 2014 we organised a national event called
Our Voices, Our Choices, Our Freedom in support of people with learning disabilities after the Winterbourne View scandal. People with learning disabilities at the event came up with
proposals for Government.
Four key proposals were taken to the first Summit Meeting for people with learning disabilities organised by the Care Minister. Leaders in health and social care came to the meeting to make key decisions.
People with learning disabilities from CHANGE shared their stories and experiences. They talked about how working helps people with learning disabilities stay out of inpatient care and lead independent lives. You can read the minutes from the Summit Meeting
