Disability rights in Egypt
In January CHANGE International Project Workers Shaun and Claire ran training in Cairo, Egypt's capital city, with
CEOSS.
CEOSS is an organisation that works on projects to promote equality in Egyptian society and culture.
In Egypt people with learning disabilities have fewer rights. The training was the first step to help people with learning disabilities have a voice.
From Easy Read to Self-advocacy
We trained people with learning disabilities and staff from Disabled People's Organisations on:
• how to make Easy Read
• co-working
• self-advocacy
• how peer-to-peer support can workTools for change
People told us how they will share the information from our training and we were so happy to hear their great ideas.
CEOSS will now work with the Egyptian government on changes to make sure people with learning disabilities have a voice and increased rights.Inspiring other people with learning disabilities
‘I am pleased I have been able to inspire people with learning disabilities in Egypt and have been inspired by their passion for change.’ - Shaun, CHANGE International Project Worker
We look forward to working with CEOSS again and seeing how they get on!
